When you walk into the reading room, you see it is not a large library. But, it is a nice collection of books, some toys and a couple of comfortable chairs.
The first thing I notice is the large collection of Arizona Highways, bound and dating back to the 1950s. Then a section on Arizona, the native people, and western plants and animals. There is also a section of education books, to engage children in ecology and the desert.
The rest of the books are children’s fiction. Even a dozen Spanish/English children’s books. While none of our books may be checked out, you can sit and read mostly undisturbed.
This year, we have started a rotating display. The first was artwork from schools K-12 Junior Duck Stamp competition. Then a display from the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) and now rocks and minerals from Arizona.
We are always looking for donations of books, especially books on Arizona. So come join me as I read my way through this library.
