The South Mountain Astronomy Club seeks to connect people with common interests in astronomy through the use of telescopes and other technologies, enhancing knowledge and understanding of our universe and generating enthusiasm for pursuit of continued collaborative learning.

To join:

  • Members must be 18 or a member of a participating youth organization
  • Individual member fee: $25 (student scholarships are available)
  • Household membership: $40

  • Astronomy Programs facilitators and speakers
  • Club Board Members

Explore the Night Sky

6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Learn about the universe through an interactive educational session, focusing each month on new astronomical topics while younger learners are engaged in both indoor and outdoor activities. Telescope viewing following, weather permitting. 

November 29: 3,527 known planets and counting

Registration recommended to ensure space.

$6 per person, $15 groups of up to seven.


Star Party

6:30 – 8:30 p.m. | November 24

Celebrate the stars with night sky telescope viewings and multimedia presentations about astronomy. Learn more about the sky and wonder that surrounds us all.

No registration required, donation of $5 per group suggested, all ages welcome.
