Desert Holes: What Dwells Below the Surface

Why don’t snakes make their own burrows? Why does a packrat gather and build a huge mound of debris? Pinau Merlin, author of A Field Guide to Desert Holes, unravels the mysteries of life beneath the surface in this exciting presentation about a little investigated phenomenon and subterranean desert dwellers. A guided walk to explore holes along the Judith Tunell trail will be offered to the first 20 participants who specify with their reservation.

Recommended for ages 10 and up.

Lecture begins at 5:40 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
