Winter Break Outdoor Adventures

Bring your friends (and family!) to the Sonoran Desert this holiday season for extra happenings all day at the South Mountain Environmental Education Center. For both locals and guests visiting from out of town, there is SO much to do in the desert!
• Welcome to the Desert Walks: guided walking tours each hour along the paved Judith Tunell Trail (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
• Desert Play Space: open all day!
• Facilitated Adventure Packs: various activities throughout the day covering topics like birding, reptiles and cacti along with fun outdoor games

Every Saturday between 10 a.m. and noon every half hour, for individuals and groups.
Enjoy a brief guided walking tours along our paved Judith Tunnel Trail.
Recommended donation $2, $5 for small groups.
Explore the Night Sky
Monthly | 6:30 – 8 p.m.

Learn about the universe through an interactive educational session. For astronomy lovers, ages 10 to 100! Telescope viewing follows the one hour learning presentation, weather permitting.
South Mountain 101
September – December | Saturdays, between 3 and 6 p.m. as available.
January – March | Sundays, between 10 a.m. and noon as available.
Rotating specialists from the South Mountain community offer an array of learning opportunities with something new each week.
The following activity is free and open to the public, no registration required.
South Mountain Nuggets
Request specially scheduled learning sessions for your group’s visit to South Mountain, offered in increments of 20, 40, 60, 80 or 120-minutes – flexible for any kind of group get-together.
Topics extend across environmental and sustainability education topics and include options for indoor and outdoor activities and investigations. For more information or to schedule.
