Introduction to Hiking in the Sonoran Desert

Learn about the endless enjoyment of hiking in our beautiful Sonoran Desert! Included in this course:  Leave No Trace and Land Ethic principles.  Basic understanding of the Sonoran Desert Ecosystem.  Fundamentals of fitness and physiology.  Introduction to various safety and survival skills.

All class attendees are encouraged to participate in the National Trail Trek (and provided a guaranteed spot) on January 27, 2018.  Course fee $30 | Optional National Trail Trek fee: $55

Visit South Mountain Environmental Education Center on weekends from October through April to learn from rotating specialists from the South Mountain community offer an array of learning opportunities with something new each week, such as glimpses into geology, botany, local history, urban ecology, herpetology, wildlife science, sociology, archaeology, engineering, astrophysics, environmental science, and more!
